Jason Anderson from The Stilly-Snohomish Fisheries Enhancement Task Force will make a presentation on Conservation Projects in the Snohomish and Stillaguamish Basin's. Jason and the Task force are a partner with our chapter in the work at Barr Creek, they are a great asset to have to help guide us on the path to stream recovery. The task force is a 501c3 non profit, their mission is to ensure the future of salmon in the Stillaguamish and Snohomish River and Island County watersheds http://www.stillysnofish.org/
We are soon going to be updating the chapter newsletters.
Barr Creek , a Skykomish River Tributary.
Currently we are working on habitat restoration on Barr and Kissee Creeks. To volunteer to help, contact Chris Tompkins ctompkins84@hotmail.com
Salmon Carcass Project:
Update 11-20-07
We currently are not pursuing this project due to the road wash out on the Index Gallena Road. The road was very badly damaged in the floods of 2006 and there is currently no estimate as to when the road will be rebuilt. There are 6 major wash out sites. Our salmon carcass project permit was for Trout, Lost and Troublesome creeks, all lay upstream of the road closure on the Index Gallena road. We are currently exploring other drop sites, but we must get a new permit to do this, hopefully we can restart this project in 2008.
The Chapter sponsors several Kid's
Fish-in's
fishing events in June.
Traditionally, the Chapter hosts a banquet and auction, the proceeds from which go to Trout Unlimited. This fund raiser has been one of the largest in the country for TU. 2008 marks the return of our banquet after a short hiatus. Please contact a board member for additional information if you would like to make a donation or to volunteer to help.
The Chapter also sells Raffle tickets for the TU State raffle. Further information to be posted when available.
Club members participate in many types of fisheries, but the predominate focus is on Trout, Steelhead, and Salmon in the Pacific Northwest.
