Help needed!
Northshore's conservation project is ongoing this summer (August and
September) of 2007 at Barr Creek We will be placing large wood again and removing invasive blackberries
and Canary Reed grass near the ponds. We will need volunteers to help
replant the area and anchor the logs. The shade from the trees will eventually shade out the
grass but we will need to maintain these areas over some time. We sure can
use your help. Get involved! Here are some pics of the site we will
be tackling over the next few years.
This is Canary Grass, it can easily reach 6
feet tall. Very Difficult for native plants to compete with this invasive
species of grass.

Upper ponds (Eastern half)
Kissey Creek along the Ben Howard Road, lots of Coho fry in
here. Too bad Snohomish County has made this stream a ditch along the road.
Salmon Carcass Project: This fall we hope
to restart our Salmon carcasses project after a tough year with the
floods. See the conservation link to read about this project. We need volunteers again, help us out and volunteer,
the fish will thank you! Call or e-mail Chris Tompkins, for details at
ctompkins84@hotmail.com.

with a project, please contact Northshore Chapter
